As the festival date draws near, all of us on the committee are feeling excited as well as a little bit nervous. The last minute details;  Collages of Post-It notes to remind us of things not to forget,  insane amounts of phone calls to one person or another, countless sleep deprived nights, and many, many meetings fueled by an endless supply of coffee all to bring our vision to life. It is this vision that guides us to keep going, in order to bring our audience its best festival yet!

We are so very proud to share this festival with all of you and we look forward to having you as our guest.  Please take time to stop by and see what all the talk is about, we think you'll be pleased.

Local film festival member Stephen Smith has landed a job in the Camera department on the feature film "All is Faire In Love" in Holly Michigan.  The film stars Christina Ricci and Owen Benjamin and takes place in present time at the renaissance festival.  The film is about a young woman (Kate) who is pressured by her father to work on Wall street while, all she really wants to do is attend the renaissance festival.  The young woman meets an unlikely love interest, Own Benjamin at the fair.  Benjamin's (Will) journey to the faire has been quite different from that of Kate's.  Benjamin was sent to the faire by his history professor in order to make up for absences in his class...  The two meet and fall in love after a series of funny gags and jokes.

Thumbnail image for All Is Faire In Love.jpgSo far this experience has been exciting and rewarding for Stephen.  He has gained much incite into the filmmaking process as well as new technologies that are setting trends in filmmaking today.  He plans to attend this Saturday's festival and is looking to do more work on features and his own personal projects.

I would like to proudly announce that we have FINALLY gotten all of the film submissions judged and selected for this year's film festival.  It's been a long journey getting to this point, but we're done!

This year's festival received over 190 submissions from all over the world.  We received many wonderful projects and the selection process was a difficult one.

We look forward to sharing these films with all of you and we hope that you enjoy them!

Here we are for our 5th year.  This year's festival promises to be a very good one. The submissions have been stellar and it will be interesting to see which ones will make it to the festival.
A huge amount of work goes into each year's festival and we all have the volunteers to thank; people who faithfully meet about 20 times a year, and the tireless screeners who watch a lot,  if not, every movie we receive. I personally want to thank each one of them, because without them, there would be no Flint Film Festival. In addition, a huge THANK YOU to all of our sponsors.  Their generous donations of money and other essentials assist the festival in coming to life.
And of course, the filmmakers. With all of your hard work and creativity, you breathe life into these works of art, Thank You.

I would love to hear your comments or ideas on the festival. Feel free to contact me in here or at flintfilmdave@gmail.com
